Subject   꿈꾸는 당신은 이미 백만장자
'당신의 꿈은 무엇입니까.' 어떻게 부자가 될 수 있냐고 묻는 샐러리맨에게 부자들은 이처럼 되묻는다. 부자들이 배부르니까 동문서답한다고 생각하면 오산이다. 심지어 '웬 꿈? 꿈 깬지 오래'라고 대답한다면 그야말로 착각이다. 부자들이 생각하는 부자의 조건은 자산의 몇%는 부동산,나머지는 주식과 금융상품에 투자하는 게 아니다. 그런 포트폴리오는 전문가들이 내놓는 부자에 대한 '분석'일 뿐이다. 부자들은 부자가 되기 위해 가장 중요한 것은 '얼마나 간절한 꿈을 갖고 있느냐'하는 점이라고 강조한다. 그리고 그 꿈을 위해 '얼마나 구체적으로 준비하고,열정적으로 움직이느냐'를 중시한다.


부자들이 말하는 ‘부자되기’는 큰 꿈과 목표를 세우는 것에서 시작된다. 빌 게이츠 마이크로소프트 회장은 하버드대학을 중퇴하고 동료 폴 알렌과 소프트웨어 회사를 차리면서 ‘전 세계의 PC가 MS의 소프트웨어를 사용토록 하겠다’는 꿈을 꿨다. 그리고 그 꿈이 현실로 실현되는 순간 그는 ‘세계 최고 갑부’ 자리에 올랐다. 그는 1995년부터 지금까지 세계 최고 갑부 자리를 지키고 있다. 큰 꿈을 가진 사람이 크게 성공한다는 얘기다.

‘한국의 부자’ 중에서 76%는 부자가 되기 전부터 부자가 되고 싶은 욕심(?)을 갖고 있었고,그 꿈을 실현하기 위해 ‘열정적’(39%)이고 ‘집요하게’(20%) 노력했던 것으로 나타났다. 그렇다면 ‘꿈’은 어떻게 설정하고 설계해야 할까. ‘간절’한 것이어야 하고,‘구체적’이어야 한다는 게 부자들의 얘기다.

꿈 설정과 목표 수립하기 꿈을 실현할 시점을 정한다면 목표가 생긴다. 즉 ‘꿈+시간=목표’다. 직장남성 A씨의 사례를 통해 꿈 설정하는 방법을 알아보자. 현재 초등학교 1학년인 아들을 중학교 때부터는 유학을 보내겠다는 계획을 세웠다. 입시지옥이 바뀔 것 같지도 않고,자신의 아들마저 그 고생을 하도록 놔두고 싶지 않기 때문이다. 또 사회의 리더가 되는 교육을 받게 하고 싶다는 생각에서다. 사랑하는 아내와의 약속도 있다. 매년 함께 해외여행을 가자는 약속이다. 그런데 매년 각자 해외출장을 다니고 있다. 아들을 유학보낸 뒤 둘이 오붓하게 오페라여행을 즐긴다는 꿈을 설계했다. 5년여가 남았다. 그 안에 꿈과 목표를 이루기 위해 부지런히 움직이고 있다.

좋은 습관이 부자를 만든다 미국 토머스 스탠리 박사와 윌리엄 단코 박사가 조사한 미국의 백만장자에 관한 리포트에 따르면 백만장자 가운데 절반 이상은 부모로부터 단 1달러의 상속도 받지 않은 것으로 밝혀졌다. 대신 그들은 부모로부터 유산 상속 대신 ‘좋은 습관’을 물려받았다고 말한다. ‘열정 결단 경청 실패 시간관리…’ 등이다.

부자들이 꼽는 가장 좋은 습관은 ‘독서’다. 책을 손에서 놓지 않는 사람이 부자가 되고,부자를 유지할 수 있다는 것. 국내 최고의 부자인 이건희 삼성그룹 회장도 매월 평균 20권의 책을 읽는다. 몇 해 전 방영됐던 ‘성공시대’란 TV프로의 진행자도 “출연자들의 공통점은 모두 아침 일찍 일어나고 책을 읽는다는 점”이라고 말했다. 서양 격언에도 ‘성공한 사람들은 모두 독서가들(All Leaders are Readers)’이란 말이 있다.

부자 될 기회는 움직이는 자에게 보인다 워렌 버펫은 지금도 만나야 할 사람이 생각나면 곧바로 전화를 걸고 자리에서 일어나 만나러 가는 것으로 유명하다. 부자들은 10명을 만나야 2명의 좋은 사람을 만날 수 있다는 사실을 잘 알고 있다. 부자가 되려고 끊임없이 움직이는 사람들에게 부자될 기회가 자주 보인다는 게 한국 부자들의 증언이다. ‘돈을 벌어주는 것은 머리가 아니라 발’이라고 단정하는 이유다.
